NOT BAD FOR A BOY FROM BELFAST

NOT BAD FOR A BOY FROM BELFAST

Fred Thompson

Collaborating on this book with Fred and his amazing family was not only enjoyable because of the people involved and Fred’s incredible life journey, it also celebrated my 20th self-published book, a journey of my own that I’ve been on since taking the plunge to write full-time back in 2013.

For a man  well into his 80s, Fred Thompson is a marvel. His memory may be fading but when it came to the details of the life that he has lived and the journey that it has taken him on, he was razor sharp and, if and when he faltered or had a memory lapse, both his sons, Ryan and Danny, were there to fill in the gaps.

Helping a family tell a life story like Fred’s is a pretty weighty task and I was honoured when asked to get Fred’s fascinating life story down on paper. After more than four decades on this planet this was never going to be a short story but was always going to be a fascinating one full of twists and turns, and highs and lows.

As Fred’s story unfolded so did my admiration for  man who was driven to work incredibly hard to achieve success. It has been a story that has not only been a privilege to help tell but one of the most enjoyable and uplifting experiences I’ve had in my role as a storyteller.
